Happy Scrappy Blues
I finished the blue scrappy quilt top that I showed the beginnings of in my last post and I thought you might like a wee look.
It was originally meant to be just a little baby quilt, but once I finished piecing those scrappy strips, I really fancied framing it all. So I went back to my pile of blues and those Sherbet Pips puppies begged to go for a romp around the quilt. Then I pulled out a Heather Ross Lightening Bugs stripe print that I have been saving for something special and put on a mitred border.
I love this quilt! In fact I love it so much I don't think I can part with it! While making it I was planning to give it to my sister in law if she has a baby boy, or if she has a girl I was planning to pop it in my Etsy shop. But I don't think I can do it!
I think I used too many of my extra special absolute favourite bits in it, and choosing a border of playing puppies because they look like my own dog when he was a pup was not a wise move when I was not planning to keep it.
I told my husband how much I love it and to my surprise he told me I should keep it! I'll see what I think once I get it quilted, but I think it might be destined to hang on the wall :)
Does anybody have any quilting suggestions? I'd love to hear any ideas....
*Edited* forgot to add that it's about 49" by 57" in case anybody is interested
Happy Wednesday!
Fiona x

ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised you want to keep it, it's so lovely!
ReplyDeleteAhhh you used too many precious, you've gone all Gollum.... Quite right too, its lovely, dont let it go :-)
ReplyDeleteKeep it!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow about free motion hearts seeing how much you love it! The outer border begs for something different though! Beautiful! Jxo
ReplyDeleteGood lord, don't even consider giving it away, (sorry pregnant sis); laughing hard at Sarah's comment!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing with Sarah, too! You wee Smeagol, you! Definitely a keeper and, hello? Mitred Lightning Bugs? Swit swoo, missus!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! Too many precious fabrics, you can not give it to someone! Have another child of necessary, but of not part with it!
ReplyDeleteCompletely understand why you don't want to part with it - I'd be the same if I had those fabrics! Juliex

ReplyDeleteOf course you should keep it- all those cute fabrics! I have my sherbet pips puppies running around the outside of a quilt too! I think something loopy would look pretty!
ReplyDeletewell, looks like you better keep 'my precious!' It really is precious too! wavy lines, soft gentleness :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's absolutely beautiful and you've used some amazing prints. You'll figure out what the right thing is to do with it - if you heart flutters, keep it. You should have a few amazing things that you've made :)
ReplyDeleteIf you don't keep it, I'm coming round to snaffle it ;o)
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't blame you for wanting to keep it, Fiona - and you should!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep it! I've started to make a scrappy quilt which was originally intended for a gift, and I'm only three blocks in and know I won't be parting with it. Why do we get so much more attached to scraps than the original yardage?
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful! I think that you should keep as many quilts as you want to. But now you need to make another for the SIL.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful quilt-- it feels so gentle and calm. love it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE! I couldn't give it away either : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I'd be hard pressed to give it away, too!
