I've done it again, and started another new quilt. I mentioned earlier this week that I had the urge to make a baby girl quilt and I just couldn't fight the urge. I'm telling myself that making little baby quilts is a really good idea because I'm getting to use my stash, try out some ideas that have been brewing, and I can list them in my Etsy shop. If they don't sell that's fine because we have a large extended family and there's always babies - and if they do sell then Yay! I can make some more! :)
I started cutting into the lovely Colour Story bundle that I bought from Pink Castle Fabrics and mixed in some linen and other scraps. I fell in love with this gorgeous quilt that Svetlana made a little while back, and wanted to make something similar in soft girlie colours with some pretty handstitching.
After a bit of stitching I had a little quilt top
I was able to baste it on the kitchen table, and now I'm sitting hand stitching, looking out at the sunshine and wondering where all the snow is because it's not arrived here yet!
I'm thinking that a quilt like this in lovely fresh crisp blues and whites with linen would be gorgeous! What do you think?
Have a great weekend, and stay warm if you have snow :)
Fiona x
No snow in Scotland yet there is here. The world has gone bonkers!
ReplyDeleteWe have it all down here instead. Love your quilt. Yes the blue would look amazing too.
ReplyDeleteIt's ever so pretty! And I think we stole your snow. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteFiona, what a pretty little quilt this is, and I totally agree about the blue, white, linen combo - pure heaven. Oh, by the way, we got absolutely no snow at all, either. Boo hoo!
ReplyDeleteVery very pretty, love your fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics and hand stitching! I do think it would be pretty in crisp blue and whites too! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and girly! Snow has just started here! Jxo
ReplyDeleteOoh the blues and whites would be lovely! Hope some snow comes soon so that your daughter can hit her brothers with snowballs!! Lovely quilt top Fiona.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt Fiona, I am having similar thoughts re Etsy and as you say, if they don't sell, there is always another baby on the way somewhere!
ReplyDeleteNo snow here either.
Beautiful quilt and I love the colors! Your roses are lovely :) We haven't had snow yet but freezing fog - making everything cold and slippery!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and yes, a blue and white version would be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty :o) Looked on the forecast earlier like the snow's going to miss us, we're just going to get bitterly cold winds - brrr.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.
ReplyDeleteWe have your snow ;)
Very pretty and girlie. The snow reached here this afternoon. Di x
ReplyDeleteWe have an icing sugar dusting of snow and that's it! Such a pretty quilt!! That's the sort of very lovely thing that hooked me into quilting in the first place - I'd love a big one for my bed!!
ReplyDeleteFiona that is beautiful! I love the pattern and the stitching looks gorgeous! I agree that blues and whites would be so pretty
ReplyDeleteyour girlie quilt is lovely and the blue version sounds like it would be just as nice. We have a tiny covering of snow which seems plain weird since so much of the country has loads. It's bitterly cold though brrrr...
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning quilt...I love the colours and that first picture makes me think of spring :o)
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty. Any little girl, or big girl!, would love it. Pretty blues and whites would be gorgeous too. I've always decorated my bedroom in blues and whites.
ReplyDeleteLovely baby quilt - and I can really visualise a quilt in linen and blues - very nice! I can't STOP myself from making quilts, it's such an addiction!
ReplyDeleteooo! I'm really digging the pinks and oranges lately and this just hits the spot.
