Siblings Together 3rd quilt finished.

Today I managed to get the binding sewn on the 3rd quilt I have made for the Siblings Together charity. I made this with a boy in mind and took ages to decide how to quilt it. In the end I decided that a quilt top was no use to anyone and just went with quite a large stipple. I think it adds a cozy texture, and I still don't know how else I would quilt it.

My Mum and Step Father donated money to buy the wadding in all 3 of the quilts I have made for the charity. This was my Step Father's idea. He used to be a foster carer when he was younger, and thought the charity is such a great idea he wanted to help in some way. A huge thankyou to both of them :)

You can see the other 2 quilts I have made here, and here, and the flickr group has a whole host a beautiful, amazing quilts. Hopefully all these quilts can bring a little bit of comfort to children in a situation I can't begin to imagine.

Siblings Together Quilts - Chapter 3

I've rustled up another quilt top for the Siblings Together charity. For this one I used a bundle of Kona solids that was very kindly sent to me by the lovely Katy. I added in some of the scraps from my previous Siblings quilt top to add some little flashes of colour.

Again, I've made this one with a teenage boy in mind, and I'm anxiously awaiting my oldest boy getting out of school to get his verdict on it. Who would have known the opinion of an 8 year old would matter so much when making a quiltthat's not even for him? :)

Here are a couple of snaps of Murphy. I swear he's 3 times the size he was a couple of weeks ago, and he has also transformed into the Tasmanian Devil!

Siblings Together Quilt - chapter 2

I'm hoping this quilt is suitable for a teen boy because I've made it for the Siblings Together charity with an older boy in mind.

     

 I drew a quick sketch of my idea and then just grabbed the fabric and started randomly sewing. This is what it all turned into :) It was so much fun to make.

I used part of a Kona Classic Charm pack and part of a Kona Classic jelly roll. The light grey sashing is Klona Ash and the main sashing is Klona dark navy. Now I need to decide how to quilt it. Any ideas?
