Wild Bob

As soon as I saw Anna Maria Horner's new line Loulouthi I was in love, those huge print in gorgeous saturated colours made my heart flutter. The fat quarter bundle I ordered arrived on Saturday and I've been itching to play with it.
I wanted a pattern that would show off the large prints and I remember seeing a pattern in Issue 4 of Fat Quarterly that was made entirely in solids, called Bob by Chawne Kimber. I thought it was the perfect pattern for me. Yesterday morning was spent cutting up the fabrics and when I got home from work last night I arranged all the blocks on the living room floor and took a photo for reference.

This morning I have been sewing up a storm and "Wild Bob" is pieced!

I LOVE it!!!  I threw in a little bit of linen and some shot cottons to tone things down slightly, and I'm really glad I did. I can't wait to quilt it. I think I'm going to quilt in the ditch and then break out some of these gorgeous perle cottons to emphasise some of the beautiful large prints.

I've already cut the leftovers into strips for a scrappy border.

Now I really better go and tidy up the breakfast dishes before I pick up my children from school!
Happy Tuesday......

  1. Slobber slobber slobber! My favourite is the blue with the flowers - 2nd along from top left. I've just gone and ordered 4 yards of the stuff because the 1/2 yard I had just wasn't enough.
Where did you get your perle cottons from...I want some too!

  2. Amazingly beautiful. And I am in love with all those perle cottons. Where did you get that fabulous collection? Did you buy them all at the same time or add to it slowly. I want!! (And I do the breakfast dishes just before the afternoon school run all the time.)

  3. God you're fast! Wild Bob is awesome, and that perle stash! wow... :-)

  4. An absolute stunner! Gorgeous fabrics! Jxo

  5. woo hoo! that's one gorgeous quilt top. congrats! best of luck with the quilting. it's gonna be great!
