I've finally done it! I've just attempted FMQ for the first time!!!!
I'm very excited! I've been wanting to try FMQ for ages but was too scared, but I got a new machine for my birthday, put my big girl pants on and went for it this morning :)
I think it's turned out not too badly. I did a loopy stars random pattern and figured it didn't matter if it all went wrong - it's for my 4 year old nephew and will probably be dragged around the garden. I'm sure he won't notice that some of ther stars are wonky and several loops are jaggy :)
Now it just needs binding and washing and I can cross another WIP off my list!
Fabric is Freebird by Momo with Moda Bella Snow, and I made the quilt top following the Postage Stamp QAL with Rachel of PS I quilt

Happy Friday!.......
They must be very big pants indeed as you've done a great job ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell done you! It took me about two years with my new machine before I was brave enough to try it, let alone on a quilt. And I love that quilt. Those fabrics are great and it just looks so good altogether.
ReplyDeleteWow - brilliant - I can't wait to get my new machine and give the FMQ a try!
ReplyDeleteWell done you! I have a love/hate relationship with FMQ - love the end results (especially in other people's quilts) but hate the process! Your postage stamp quilt looks adorable! Jxo
ReplyDeleteWell done! Those big girl pants were remarkable clearly! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteSo true - love/hate FMQ. Working up the nerve to do it is half of the challenge.
ReplyDeletelol big girl pants.. must have a look in the laundry mountain and see if I've got any... Big "well done you" for doing your first FMQ on such a gorgeous quilt! I keep chickening out... Love the momo, its worked really well on the postage stamp top :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt top, and love the quilting, well done you! (still plucking up the courage to try it here!)
ReplyDeleteYou are a lot braver than I am. I have only ever done FMQ by hand but would love to be able to do it on the machine properly. I have done small projects like coasters but that is it.
ReplyDeleteYay congrats! I think you just have to jump into it and accept that practice makes perfect. In the meantime only you yourself notices the mistakes (and if your like me blows them totally out of proportion lol!) Your quilting looks great, loving the loops - I need to give them a try!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I love your quilting, especially the stars and hope to see a lot more of it!
