I was planning on sewing up a storm this week, in the hour and a half childfree time I have each day, but the weather round here has other plans for me!
On Monday my world turned white, and I spent my morning clearing snow and helping out neighbours.
Tuesday and Wednesday brought more snow and ice and I managed to get my Savvy Seasons Swap goodies finished and mailed early, in case we ended up snowed in again like we were last December.
Today has brought a 'Red Alert' weather warning from the Scottish government, and all our local schools are closed because there are apparently severe gales heading to Glasgow!
Now I have to convince my 3 darling children that they do not want to fight/argue/bicker/squabble and drive me crazy all day. Do you think I can convince them to help me baste some quilts???
Hope your weather is nice!
Fiona :)
A sunny 32 degrees Celsius here today! Could you threaten the children with "Santa won't come if you aren't good, especially if the roads and airports are closed!!"?? Love your swap goodies- lucky partner!
ReplyDeleteOh, dear-- the weather sounds dreadful. We are having some snow and gusts right now, but by morning the snow/rain and wind will end and it will warm up and be sunny. My son was off from school yesterday (teacher's workshop) and I got very little sewing done. Your makes for the Savvy Seasons Swap are all lovely! Hope you get in some sewing time and that the kids play well together. Have them build an indoor fort-- that'll keep 'em busy!
ReplyDeleteOh crap! I hope you stay snuggly and warm indoors! Keep safe :-) x
ReplyDeleteOoh good luck getting the kids to help! Its proper dark here, and cold, and I can hear the wind picking up... not good... Hate snow!
ReplyDeleteKeep safe in the snowy gails - love your swap makes and hope you can get some sewing in!
ReplyDeleteHope every one keeps safe and everyone plays nicely and lets you do some sewing! It's cold and grey here. Looks like it might rain. Will probably wait until just as I leave to go home!
ReplyDeleteStay warm, and I hope you have a lovely snow/wind day.
ReplyDeleteAwe, sorry....my kids were not happy about no snow day today, but I was! =)
ReplyDeleteHope you get something done!
Hope that you managed to keep them entertained without bloodshed! Do what I do when they push you too close to the edge, roar at them and then send them to separate rooms, with you reserving your sewing space for yourself!
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion for the kids is to use spray basting and either spray VERY liberally so the kids get drowsy on fumes for an hour or two or spray baste them to the sofa! Just kidding - I think either option could get social services on to you, but hey sometimes life calls for desperate measures. Seriously, hope you all stay safe from the furies of the wind and weather!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Hope you are all OK.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and warm...we had horizontal rain this afternoon and the wind is getting up but it's nowhere near as bad as it is over the border. Take care x
ReplyDeleteOh Fiona - that is crap luck, but I wouldn't mind a snow-in maybe whilst the kids were snowed in at school! It sounds like it is blowing a gale even here and it's nothing in comparison!
ReplyDeleteKeep warm, safe and sane xxx
Heh, good luck with that! (although I hope for your sake they're tucked up in bed now!) I went into a 2 hour meeting at 10, and when I came out the place was deserted. Apparently they'd sent all non-essential staff home, via e-mail, so we hadn't a clue! Och well, I just stayed since I had an appointment at the hairdresser after work.
ReplyDeleteOh Fi, that's so disappointing! Howling a gale here too, thankfully no snow! Jxo
ReplyDeleteand we have 32c (90F) today - clear skies and thinking it might be dip in the pool time - the snow in glasgow looks fabulous though!
